News from the Editor:

Congratulations to two contributors from the Fall 2009 issue of the
Apple Valley Review whose work has been recognized by the 2010
Best of the Net Anthology.  
Elaine Barnard’s short story, “Water,”
was a finalist in the fiction section, and
Erika Kleinman’s essay,
The Perfect Pair,” was a finalist in the nonfiction section.

Avra Wing—whose poem “Recurring Dream” appeared in the
Spring 2010 issue of the
Apple Valley Review—was the winner
of Pecan Grove Press’s chapbook competition.  Her collection,
Recurring Dream, was published by Pecan Grove in 2011.  To

Finally, I would like to congratulate
Glen Pourciau, the recipient of
Apple Valley Review Editor’s Prize for 2011.  His short story,
Backbone,” was published in our Spring 2011 issue.  All work
published in the
Apple Valley Review during a given calendar year is
considered for this annual award.  Pourciau will receive $100 and a
gift of a book of poetry or fiction.       

Apple Valley Review is an online literary journal.  It is published
twice annually, once in spring and once in fall.  Each issue features a
collection of poetry, short fiction, and essays.
