Letter from the Editor

Dear Readers,

This has been a wonderful year for the
Apple Valley Review, and I want
to thank everyone who has set aside some time to read the journal.  Since
our first issue was released, I have received hundreds of letters from all
over the world, many of them with comments about how much they liked
or identified with a particular piece or two.

At this time, I would like to offer my congratulations to our 2006
Pushcart Prize nominees:

Anna Evans for “Color Therapy at the OB-GYN’s,”
Jéanpaul Ferro for “Cuba, 1943,”
Lyn Lifshin for “Cat Love,”
Sid Miller for “Central Park,”
Karen Wunsch for “Writing, Marriage, and Walking a Dog: A Memoir,”
and
Janet Zupan for “Missing the Stop.”

Janet Zupan is also the recipient of the
Apple Valley Review Editor’s Prize
for 2006 for her poem “Missing the Stop,” which was published in our
Spring 2006 issue.  All work published in the
Apple Valley Review during
a given calendar year is considered for this annual award.  Zupan will
receive $100 and a book of poetry.

Finally, I am pleased to announce that the
Fall 2006 issue of the Apple
Valley Review
is now available online at www.applevalleyreview.com.
This collection represents a very small sample of the writing that I’ve had
the privilege to read over the past few months.  I hope you enjoy it.

Best wishes,

Leah Browning, Editor
